Our Story
The Drone Mentor was founded by Matt Williams in September 2022, with a mission to empower drone enthusiasts to build successful businesses. Having created and run the world's largest online drone qualification school, UAVHub, since 2014, Matt has taught over 52,000 people worldwide how to obtain certifications and qualifications to fly their drones safely and legally. Throughout his journey, he noticed a pattern: many people entered the industry with enthusiasm but struggled to succeed because they didn't treat it like any other business.
With a wealth of experience in the drone industry, including flying for Film, TV, and live broadcasts since 2010, Matt combined his knowledge of business, personal development, and marketing to create The Drone Mentor. This unique approach focuses on three core areas crucial for success: Business Knowledge, Personal Development, and Marketing and Selling Your Solutions.
Although The Drone Mentor officially launched in 2022, Matt has been delivering training, mentoring, and coaching through UAVHub since 2014. The decision to separate the regulated training from the business and personal development training came from a desire to serve people all over the world without geographic restrictions. Today, The Drone Mentor Academy and other programs have students from Europe, Canada, the US, and even Australia!
Overcoming challenges such as managing UAVHub alongside The Drone Mentor and preparing for a family move to Canada, the company has grown from just Matt to include his wife, Natalie, who leads the content marketing strategy, and two freelance Accountability Managers, Luke & Kyle. With plans to expand the content creation team in Canada, The Drone Mentor aims to help even more people worldwide.
What sets The Drone Mentor apart is its focus on helping people become the best version of themselves by filling gaps in their knowledge and framing success in a way that's achievable. As a pioneer in the drone industry, Matt has worked on film sets in Morocco, aerial filming for the James Bond franchise, and even flew the first-ever live international sports broadcast from a drone during the America's Cup in Bermuda in 2017.

Matt is the driving force behind The Drone Mentor. With a decade of experience in the drone industry, Matt's passion for helping others succeed is what led him to create The Drone Mentor. He's dedicated to sharing his wealth of knowledge and experience with students, guiding them on their path to success.
Nat Williams
Content Marketing Strategist
Natalie is the creative mind behind our content marketing strategy. She works tirelessly to ensure our message reaches the right people, helping to inspire and educate aspiring drone entrepreneurs worldwide. Her continual dedication to our mission is invaluable in building The Drone Mentor's global presence.
Indi
Head of Discipline & Etiquette
Indi, our beautiful Black Labrador, keeps us all in check and makes sure we're always behaving. When we're not busy creating new content, delivering coaching sessions, updating the website, and checking out new leads (no pun intended!), we can usually be found trying to wrestle her out of our local river and seeking shelter as she shakes herself dry!
Kyle Clark
Accountability Manager
One of our 'dynamic duo'... Kyle is a former Drone Mentor Academy student who used our 'selling superweapon' against us to good effect!
Kyle was on the first cohort of The Drone Business Secrets Course and now works alongside Luke, to provide crucial support to our students, helping them stay on track and achieve their goals and his personal experience with our programs makes him uniquely suited to understand and assist our students' needs.
On a day-to-day basis, Kyle owns and runs 'KC Visuals' - a videography company, based in the South East of the UK.
Luke Smith
Accountability Manager
The other half of our 'dynamic duo'... Luke is another former Drone Mentor Academy student who used our own sales training on us!
Luke was on the first cohort of The Drone Business Secrets Course, and now works alongside Kyle to provide vital support to our students, helping them stay on track and achieve their goals. As with Kyle, Luke's personal experience with our programs makes him uniquely suited to understand and assist our students' needs.
On a day-to-day basis, Luke owns and runs 'Wildcloud Media' - a Marketing & Branding company based in the South West of the UK.
